This morning we started our day by making collages. Each child cut and glued their pictures themselves. We talked about scissor safety and work on how to correctly hold our scissors. Being able to properly hold scissors along with the open and close motion helps to build the muscles in their hands. The process of holding scissors with one hand and the paper in the other helps hand eye coordination.
Due to the rain this morning, we went to the gym for the first time! It can get loud and crazy, but it is so much fun! We played with balls, cones, tumbling mats, hula hoops, and sit and bouncers.
During centers we put shaving cream on the table for the children who wanted to play in it, and worked on name writing in the shaving cream. We have created the Discovery Cafe in pretend with menus and prices. Dinosaurs are the favorite in the building center and “sleepovers” including bedtime stories were today’s favorite activity in the reading center.
