Before the rain today we were able to go on a Leaf Hunt! We hiked in the woods collecting leaves of all sizes, shapes and colors that we will sort and make art with next week. We also observed all the nature around us. We talked about the different types of trees, pulled back bark on fallen trees to see the different insect colonies living inside, examined different types of moss and species of fungi, and found a toad! See if you can find him hidden in the picture 🙂
Our book today was The Apple Pie that Papa Baked by: Lauren Thompson. After reading we made a list of foods that can be made with apples, some ideas were Apple Ice cream, Apple Pie, Apple Crisp, Apple Brownies, Apple cake, and Applesauce. Next week we will be baking some of these delicious recipes!
