This morning we made Apple Cake. We used spice cake mix, applesauce, and chopped apples, then the class topped their cakes with frosting and apple pie filling. This was another request from the children on our long list of things you can make with apples 🙂
We started highlighting all the letter A’s in our Apple Tree poem. Today a little more than half the class was able to complete theirs, the rest will complete theirs tomorrow. I work with the children either one-on-one or two at a time. We talk about the letter, describe how it looks, the difference between how the capital and lowercase letter look, and the different sounds the letters make.
Finally we completed Our Favorite Apple graph! We used the results from Monday’s taste test and had lots of good discussion: what we liked about each kind of apple, what we didn’t and used lots of describing words in our talk.
