We started our day off by peeling and chopping apples for applesauce! We used an apple peeler then each child used a plastic knife to chop their apple into pieces. This morning we made Apple Cake. We used spice cake mix, applesauce, and chopped apples, then the class topped their cakes with frosting and apple pie filling. Wednesday is Spanish Day! "Monstruo" (Monster) was the word of the day. The children created their own monstrous by rolling dice to determine how many body parts they would have, so they also worked on the names of body parts and numbers. Today we started our morning with an apple taste test. We each had the opportunity to try a Red Delicious Apple, Granny Smith Apple, and Golden Delicious. Before the rain today we were able to go on a Leaf Hunt! We hiked in the woods collecting leaves of all sizes, shapes and colors that we will sort and make art with next week. We introduced a new game today, Rattlesnake Jake. Jake projects the gems, and we used tongs to try and "steal" them away without making him strike! This morning we had a BIG surprise waiting on us! Mrs. Voytko stopped in last night and left us new books, a note, and a GIANT Pumpkin! Today we played outside and jumped in puddles! We worked on writing our names in sand with our fingers, had lots and and lots of colored bubbles in the Sensory Table, and enjoyed Music with Mrs. Ankrum!
